Murder Punk Vol 1 was originally released in 2001 and has been out of print for years. This 23-track Australian punk compilation documents the Aussie punk scene from 1977-1980 with songs taken from rare independent releases and self-released singles and EPs. This reissue comes with an insert booklet containing a short description for each band’s release and the track list is top notch. You’d be hard pressed to find a better compilation covering the early years of Australian punk. Almost all of the recordings that fill up this volume were pressed on small independent labels in super small press runs and are nearly impossible to find at a fair price today. And the track listing on this reissue is untouchable showcasing the cream of the crop in first wave of Australian punk. Highly recommended!
